Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair River features the top smallmouth bass and musky fisheries in the world covering nearly 430 square miles with over half of its water being in Canada. Combined, these waterways span 40 miles and connect Lake St. Clair to Lake Huron.
The St. Clair River enters Lake St. Clair through the St. Clair Flats, one of the most beautiful and unique freshwater deltas in the world. The shallower depths and warmer waters of Lake St. Clair offer an incredible fishery for a variety of species, while the deeper and cooler waters of the St. Clair River offer excellent opportunities to catch walleye and sturgeon.
Smallmouth bass reaching over 5 pounds, musky exceeding the 50 inch mark and sturgeon exceeding the 60 inch mark are very common in this one of a kind fishery.
In order to sustain such a great fishery of predator fish, this system supports a variety of baitfish including the delicious table fare Yellow Perch. Many excellent opportunities to catch these delicious fish occur during the spring and fall.
